2021 Motorcycle Cannonball Run
Our local South Padre island paper had an article in it about the 2021 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run coming to the island. Jan and I headed down to the convention center Sunday to see what this was all about.
According to the article, this is the most difficult antique endurance run in the world. Entries to this race had to be motorcycles that had been manufactured in 1929 or earlier. From what we saw, we were not disappointed. When Jan and I got there, we were able to see quite a few bikes rolling into the parking lot. The riders were grinning from ear to ear. Sunburned, hot, and most likely glad the race had come to an end.
The riders, about 88 of them, started on the US side of the Canadian border in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The ride was to take 17 days to reach South Padre Island, hence the name of the ride - "Border to Border". They left on Sept 10, 2021.
More info can be found at http://www.motorcyclecannonball.com. We saw Harley-Davidson, Henderson, Indian, Ner-A-Car. Yeah, look that last one up. The Ner-A-Car in the pics below was built in 1926.
Enjoy the photos.
Here a some videos I took of the riders coming in. Make sure you watch these in full-screen.
